The Office...Gretzky's
Below the goal line or behind the net

This week's video is all about The Office...Gretzky's Office.
Wayne Gretzky was known for many things, but one of the lasting concepts he brought to the game was using the area below the goal line and behind the net. Using this area creates confusion for the defending team. Specifically, it really increases the level of difficulty for the opposing goaltender. When a goalie is put in a position to look below the goal line or behind the net, it removes some of their ability to read the play and see where the puck might go next. When the puck comes out from below the goal line or behind the net, a goalie has a much harder time getting in position to be square to the shooter or anticipate the next pass. This leads to a harder time keeping the puck out of the net. All of the goals in this video are a result of getting the puck to go below the goal line or behind the net into The Office prior to scoring.
